The second photographer I am going to look at his Andy rouse.
Here is a little bit of history on Andy Rouse
Andy Rouse is an inspirational wildlife photographer who is well known the world
over. A unique and charismatic figure he is famed for his ability to capture moments from the lives of animals and birds in the wild from a different view point and often from his trade-mark stance, that of being “up close and personal” to some of the most fascinating and often potentially dangerous animals. Over recent years, Andy’s photographic style has been developing to be all encompassing of the animals and their environment in order to augment his passion for telling a story and to highlight the beauty of the natural world. Andy is well-known to anyone with a passion for the natural world and his immense talent is synonymous with outstanding images and a dedication to work.
Andy rouse has presented his own documentaries and also starred in some as well.

Ideas and layout of article
I’m thinking for my article I am going to use the Pictures that I am going to take at the Suffolk Show in a couple of weeks and then write about them and the Suffolk show itself.
I think for the layout I will have 3-4 pictures on each page I will then write a little bit of information on each page; I will hopefully have 3-4 pages.
Another idea I have is to do my magazine article on my final major project. I am thinking about doing the whole first page covered in the pictures then with a little bit of text, I will then carry on to pages 2/3 and put a few pictures on each page and then write a little bit about my FMP.
I will hopefully choose one of these two ideas and then put it into effect in my article.
Shooting Schedule
Wednesday 1st June- Go to Suffolk Show and take pictures for Trinity Park.
Friday 3rd June – Edit some of the pictures for article.
Tuesday 7th June – Start making article about FMP.
Wednesday 8th June – make decision if the FMP article doesn’t look right then start on Trinity Park one.
Friday 10th June – Start Making Article on Suffolk Show.
Tuesday 14th June- Finish Article.

Research into two magazines
For this piece of research I shall be looking at two different magazines, I shall talk about the Composition, the message it is putting across and the effectiveness of this, the two magazines that I will be talking about are mosaic which normally only has one wildlife/animal article per issue, and the other I shall be talking about is national geographic which from cover to cover is all about wildlife whether it be animals to trees and flowers.
For example in the mosaic issue 35 (September 2009) there is a 3 page spread article on a guy called Gary sharp, who was so unimpressed with some beef he received that he decided to start his own herd as a hobby. The article is written by Adam Civico. On the first page of the article there is a massive picture of a cow with a little bit of text underneath explaining what the article is going to be about. The next part of the article is the story of how Gary Sharp started his own herd. There is a picture of Gary with a few of his own cows; this one picture covers one and a half pages. The story is on the left hand side of the second page going down alongside the picture then it carries on underneath the picture. The message is that he received a bad bit of beef so he started his own herd so people got decent quality beef. Overall the article is quite effective, for example it has a bold title that stands out (A stake in the country) its effective because the article is about beef which comes from cows. It is also effective because of the massive picture that’s spread across both pages because it makes it stand out that the article is about cows/beef.
I cannot find a magazine for national geographic that I can look at so I will talk about one of the articles on the website; the article on the website is about the Mexican Axolotls Salamander. At the top of the page it has a picture of the salamander; it then does into a little bit of detail about why the Mexican Axolotls is extremely endangered. It then goes on to talk about the Axolotls and where they can be found and what they eat and what other salamanders they are closely related to. On the side there is a little bit of information on the Salamander. One thing the website always has in common with every little bit of information they have on every animal is that they have the statistics of the said animal, this includes, what type of animal it is, what diet the animal eats, the average lifespan in the wild and in captivity, the size and weight of the animal, its protection status, they also have one little bit of information you would never know. For example on the Mexican Axolotls it says this, “Did you know?
Because they have the ability to regenerate lost body parts, axolotls are probably one of the most scientifically studied salamanders in the world. “
Quoted from http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/amphibians/axolotl/
This article is very effective because one of the first words you read is endangered, and as soon as people hear this about an animal they want to read more about it to see if they can do anything to prevent it from becoming extinct. The composition I can’t really talk about as it’s a web article. But in my eyes the article is very effective, and the message that the article is trying to put across is that the Mexican Axolotls is endangered.

Research into 2 wildlife photographers
For my research I shall be looking and talking about 2 wildlife photographers, I will say a little bit of background information on both of them, then I shall say if they have won any awards during their photography career. I will then do a brief analysis of one of their photos.
The two photographers I am going to look at are; Andy Rouse and Brian Phipps.
Brian Phipps
Brian Phipps is British wildlife photographer, who takes photos for so many different magazines, he has done articles and published some of his pictures in; Mammal News, Annual Review, Country and Border Life, Sporting Gun, West Country Life and Castle deer. He has probably worked on more magazines, but this is all I could find on his own personal website.
Here is a little bit of information on Brian Phipps;
He was born in 1973, his passion for photography started in 1992, and his passion started because of fishing on the Somerset levels, the reason why it grew is because over time it found he enjoyed the wildlife more than catching the fish. Due to his he sold all his fishing gear and with the money he made he brought his first SLR (EOS5000).
He spends hours researching his locations so that he doesn’t have to wait around and hide to get the pictures he wants. He doesn’t really like taking pictures of animals in captivity but sometimes he has to. He can proudly say that 99% of his pictures are from the wild.
For some of his work go to http://www.brianphipps.net/galleries

Evaluation for article
I think overall this assignment was one of the easiest ones I have done this year because I love taking photos and putting things together, so this assignment was just perfect getting to take photos that I wanted to take and put them in an article in any way I wanted. Although this assignment was one of the easiest it was still a little bit hard. The reason why I found hard is because of the research, because I was stupid and done my article before doing any of the research I found it hard to do the research as I then had to find two magazines and two photographers that do wildlife magazines/photography. This was pretty difficult as I tried to use the Issuu website but everytime I typed in Wildlife it came up with loads of different things that I didn’t want. In the end I managed to find one article in mosaic magazine, and then an article on the national geographic website. The research on two photographers was a lot easier as there is a lot more photographers than there are magazines.
As to the actual article itself, I found this quite difficult because I was stuck between two ideas, the first being my FMP and the second being the Suffolk Show. In the end I decided to do my article on the Suffolk Show. I done a page spread, on each page there was a maximum of 3 pictures on each, a little bit of information on each one.
Overall I liked this assignment but found it a little bit hard, I think if I had of done all the work in the right order then I would of found this article assignment a lot easier.
